In order to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the research hotspots and development trends in gob-side entry retaining technology in coal mines, as well as delve deeper into the development process and evolution trend characteristics, academic journals from the literature database of China National Knowledge Network(CNKI) were utilized as data sources. The scientometrics method was employed for analysis. Additionally, comprehensive utilization of CiteSpace software's data analysis and visual knowledge graph technology enabled a structured perspective analysis of gob-side entry retaining technology from five aspects: existing literature data, authors, issuing institutions, keywords involved, and the evolution characteristics of keywords. This study aims to explore the research hotspots and trends within the field of gob-side entry retaining in coal mines. The results indicate an increasing number of papers published on this topic since 1994 with research hotspots revolving around keywords such as gob-side entry retaining, top cutting, and pressure relief. Collaboration among researchers and related institutions is predominantly observed within this field with universities and relevant companies being key contributors.
